Clearstead also works with institutions, providing services including investment consulting, fiduciary services, governance oversight, among others.

Plimsoll Mark Capital is founded in Portland, ME as a wealth advisory and investment management firm.
2013
Atlantic Financial Services Founded
Atlantic Financial Services is founded by John Higgins as a Registered Investment Advisor (“RIA”).
2014
Clearstead Advisors acquires Plimsoll Mark Capital.
2016
Atlantic Trust is founded, succeeding Atlantic Financial Services.
2020
Clearstead Advisors acquires Maine Financial Advisors, a Portland, Maine-based wealth advisory firm that was founded in 1994, and merges it with Plimsoll Mark Capital.
2021
Clearstead Trust Launches
On July 1, 2021, Clearstead Trust began operations in the State of Maine as a wholly owned subsidiary of Clearstead Advisors, LLC. Clearstead Trust was formed through the acquisition of the Atlantic Trust assets.
2022
Plimsoll Mark Capital is merged with Clearstead Trust. The combined firms can offer corporate trustee services and high-quality investment management to clients.
TODAY
Clearstead Trust can engage its parent company – Clearstead Advisors – to offer comprehensive wealth management services to clients, including financial and estate planning, tax planning and compliance, family office services, among others.
